What would life be like if we woke up tomorrow and didn't have pencils, iPhones, email, markers, or Skype? Well today we experienced a time warp and learned about the earliest examples of "written" communication, cave paintings. After our pencils, pens, crayons, and markers were declared no longer in existence, we tried our hands at communicating with "rock," charcoal and other "natural" media. Oh, did I mention there was no alphabet?!?
After our groups decided what messages should be sent, everyone helped to draw a message to the next table. After the drawings were completed, or the timer went off, the message was sent to the next table, where they had to interpret the message. If you thought the game of telephone resulted in mixed messages, give cave painting try! :)
What was our ultimate conclusion? Drawing is fun, but can we have our alphabet and pencils back?!?
